If you want quality beaches, a quaint and growing downtown community on the water, affordable homes in well-planned communities, great schools, and scenic living, my first options are Carlsbad, California.
If only I had bought there Two decades ago once i moved from La Jolla to North County. But my hubby wanted more property, so we went inland 5 miles to Vista. Yes, Vista is nice, I enjoy my home and the near-perfect weather (An hour ranked Vista as having the best climate inside the U.S.)! But I still wish we'd bought in Carlsbad.

Since Carlsbad is my neighbor, I visit the community on a regular basis because of its beaches, it's shopping (especially in the Outlet Mall away from Palomar Airport Road), up-and coming restaurants like West Steak House or Vigilucci's, walks on the beach, or shopping boutiques within the Village of Carlsbad.
And since I traveled for work for a long time, I'd always employ their convenient airport - where I might bring that they still don't charge for parking!
